Ricky is a proud Canberran, family man, athlete, coach and mentor. The driving force behind the creation of the Ricky Stuart Foundation is a very personal experience for Ricky and his family. Emma was diagnosed with autism at age 11. Like so many parents the Stuarts had to navigate a complex system, while at the same time adjusting to what that meant for Emma and the family.

The Ricky Stuart Foundation (RSF) was established in 2011. Ricky believing passionately that every child deserves access to state of the art respite facilities and eventually a home. The Canberra Raiders coach quickly recognised that he had the ability to improve the situation.

With enormous support from family, friends, plus local and national contributions, the Foundation focuses on three key outcomes:

  • providing a voice for individuals and families by raising awareness of autism and the focussing on wellbeing;
  • raising funds to build state of the art respite facilities and homes for individuals living with a disability; and
  • most recently committing to supporting individuals and families nationally through the development of better practice, sustainable respite/housing blueprint.
